Step into a greener future with this all-in-one app that empowers users to embrace sustainable living. Discover eco-friendly recipes, locate nearby farmers markets, and make informed choices by checking the eco-score of your food, all in one seamless platform.

Sustainable eating is rooted in the pressing need to address environmental, social, and health challenges stemming from traditional food systems. Unsustainable agricultural practices contribute significantly to greenhouse gas emissions, land degradation, and water pollution. Moreover, demand for resource-intensive animal-based diets strains global food supplies, exacerbates deforestation, and raises ethical concerns over animal welfare. Embracing sustainable eating habits protects our environment and is a pathway to fostering healthier individuals and communities for a thriving future. At the core of my mission lies the desire to be part of the solution, contributing to a more sustainable world for generations to come.

Student councils form a bridge between the local community and students by organizing community-wide activities. My high school student council lacked a good way to schedule events and keep track of who was actively participating. I wanted to create an app that made it easier to manage different service activities to encourage more student body engagement in the community. The primary goal of my app was to increase the amount and type of information available so students could be more informed about community events.

Third: WeatherGuardGPT

During severe weather events, tragedies often occur because people are unaware and unprepared for weather hazards, resulting in wrong decisions that lead to avoidable losses. As the world’s climate changes, damages from natural disasters will increase unless something is done to improve the people’s ability to take precautionary measures, call for help, and avoid dangerous areas. To address this issue, I developed the WeatherGuard GPT, a user-friendly app that utilizes AI technology to keep people well-informed and safe from weather hazards.

WeatherGuard GPT is a user-friendly app that utilizes AI technology to keep people well-informed and safe from weather hazards in their area. It has GPT-generated weather summaries and alerts, crowdsourced weather reports, and first responder aid management all easily accessible on one app.

An estimated of 50 million Americans struggled with mental illnesses in 2020; and that number has only grown because of the pandemic with 36% of Americans suffering from continued loneliness. Despite the alarming rates, many factors including stigmatization and financial issues hinder individuals from seeking help. We wanted to give these individuals an easy home solution, and through Calmify, a unique stream of consciousness journaling app, we endeavor to help struggling individuals through exciting new ideas, like a.i. detection of negative emotions and happy memory recall, which has been shown to improve mood and emotions. The app detects loneliness and other negative emotions in journaling, which it addresses with its unique modules: memory lane, AI chatting, and more.

Procrastination, or putting off work, is a problem that affects 80% of college students, and most people find themselves procrastinating from time to time. This is a serious problem, as pushing back work to do at a later time will only cause more stress as the amount of work piles up. Procrastination can also affect the quality of work, thus leading to lower grades. Additionally, procrastination isn’t the sole issue that might be preventing students from reaching their maximum academic potential. There are several research-proven study habits that can further assist students in improving their grades. To approach this issue, we decided to make an app that allows users to set their status on their work, contact each other to work together, includes a quiz that tells the user what study method best suits them, and allows the user to try out the study methods.

Concussions , a serious concern in hockey, especially for our young players. An issue that’s been troubling parents, coaches, and players alike. Each year, between 1.7 and 3 million concussions occur due to sports. Concussions can be difficult to identify and diagnose, especially in the heat of a game or practice. Young players may not recognize the symptoms or fail to communicate with coaches and parents leading to serious long-term effects on a player’s mental health and well-being.

Wealth Wizard is app designed to help users manage their finances and give then motivation by rewarding them for saving money.

Managing finances can be difficult without tracking expenses. Small expenses that might not seem harmful for now, but they could build up to quite a hefty sum. Sometimes subscriptions would steadily eat away money without even being noticed.

Listing data can also be time-consuming and daunting, especially to new users, and may result in losing motivation. This is also especially difficult for mobile devices. According to Statista (2022) 91% of internet users owned a smartphone. Compared to 61% of users owning a laptop/desktop. This made it hard for people to use spreadsheet applications such as Excel.

This is why we created Wealth Wizard. This mobile application made tracking your expenses and subscriptions with a few simple clicks. This app also motivates people to accomplish their preset goal to save money.

Second: Relief Reach

Team Ctrl+Alt+Elite

(video)

I have seen children and people living in difficult countries like Africa dying one by one, unable to use relief supplies because they don’t even have a spoonful of sugar. And one day, I thought we must certainly solve this disaster. Then one day, we participated in an appathon, and one of the themes was health. We thought, “This is an opportunity.” We began to think about how to create an app for people in developing countries. And so, we came up with an app necessary for both institutional administrators and those in need. We created a system where items that are crucial in times of crisis can be requested quickly and easily to prevent death from lack of necessary items. In addition, we set up a system where the AI system Chat GPT provides psychological counseling for those who are mentally and emotionally struggling, and we also included a manual guidance system for the complex use of relief items. That’s how ReliefReach, R.R, was finally born. We hope that ReliefReach (R.R) can provide a warm helping hand to children who really need help and people who are in the blind spot of welfare.

Concepts such as verb tenses, noun and adjective transformations can be particularly difficult to understand. Our app provides a solution to these grammar issues by offering a comparison of sentence structures across tenses and contextualized images, instead of relying on rote memorization. This app is beneficial for all English learners, as it enables them to quickly and easily master English grammar and improve their language skills.

I work as an educational specialist and technically supervise about 150 mathematics teachers in 45 schools, and I always encourage them to employ technology and games in teaching mathematics. But through my classroom visits, I see their poor use of technology due to the lack of ready-made materials and their inability to produce materials Previously, I implemented several training workshops for mathematics teachers on websites that help them produce interactive materials with ready-made templates, but they were not sufficient, and some teachers felt that they needed effort in preparation. Therefore, I thought of preparing an application based on the same topics and arrangement of the units of the mathematics curriculum. The application included videos, games, and buildings in an easy way that helps the teacher to employ it in the class and helps the student in self-learning.

Mental health is a global challenge that affects millions of people regardless of their background, education, or income. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), one in four people in the world will be affected by a mental or neurological disorder at some point in their lives. I felt compelled to act when some of my friends faced similar issues such as stress and anxiety due to multitude of factors. To address this and promote global mental health, an app allows people, regardless of education, to assess their mental well-being privately. It offers stress relief, happiness activities, and resources to destigmatize mental health. Emphasizing compassionate and inclusive societies, the app strives to foster mental health awareness for a healthier, happier world.

Third: Communicate with the mouth

(video)

The App I propose is aimed at those with severe motor disabilities (paraplegia, muscular dystrophies, myopathies) which prevent the use of almost all of their muscles and are left with only the possibility of moving their mouth but without being able to modulate their voice. This App allows you to write short SMS messages on your mobile phone and send them autonomously just by opening and closing your mouth. The App falls within Appathon’s first theme: “Civic engagement & justice” because it is a civic duty to allow all people to communicate and it is also an act of social justice because, even if in a limited way, it frees people to express your own thought. The App is based on the facial recognition extension of “App inventor” which analyzes the movements of the face through a pre-processing. In the explanation that follows, we will refer to the disabled person who uses the App and the assistant who initially organizes it on the mobile phone.

From the day themes were announced the theme “Mental Health and wellbeing” caught my eye. I found out that there isn’t any major app developed that aims to address the problem of “Health” and “Wellbeing” till now. Hence I decided to work upon this idea to develop an app that is efficient, feature packed and useful. I feel it immensely happy that I have developed an app with smart features that can address the problem of growing stress in children or adults and can provide emergency healthcare features like informing your near and dear ones when you are unwell.
